There are many fruits and vegetables that are in season in November that are not only delicious but also provide amazing health benefits for you and your family!
Cranberries: Cranberries provide a healthy dose of antioxidants due to their super high anthocyanin content. The anthocyanins also provide cranberries with their bright red color! Use maple syrup to make a classic cranberry sauce or add dried cranberries to a mix of raw walnuts and almonds for a healthy snack!
Pomegranates: Pomegranates are another amazing source of antioxidants that have protective effects throughout the body. Try them sprinkled over organic yogurt for a sweet snack or mixed into a fall salad!
Beets: Beets have amazing benefits for our cardiovascular system by increasing nitric oxide. They add a fun color when added to a vegetable juice or taste delicious roasted in the oven!
Brussel sprouts: Brussel sprouts are part of the family of cruciferous vegetables which contain compounds called glucosinolates. These compounds are great for our liver health and help to support the body’s natural detoxification pathways. Slicing them thinly before roasting them helps to activate these beneficial compounds and also makes them easier to eat!
Butternut squash: Butternut squash contains vitamin A and vitamin C which have great benefits for our immune function as we continue into flu season. Using a spiralizer to make squash noodles is a fun, kid friendly way to incorporate this vegetable into your family’s diet!
