Cold and flu season can be very challenging for families with kids. Many parents wonder what supplements or natural remedies they might want to have on hand when illness strikes. While I’ll share some commonly used options below, it’s important to understand that no supplement or homeopathic remedy has been proven to prevent, treat, or cure colds or flu.

Elderberry This traditional remedy has gained popularity for good reason. Studies suggest elderberry may help reduce the severity and duration of cold and flu symptoms. Many kids actually enjoy the taste of elderberry syrup, making it an easy addition to your routine. Commercial products should be used rather than homemade versions unless you’re certain of proper preparation.

Homeopathy

Common homeopathic remedies for acute illness include:

  • Oscillococcinum
  • Kali bichromium
  • Allium Cepa
  • Pulsatilla
  • Nux vomica
